Ethernet driver for mac os x4/19/2023 System Profiler also says "Wireless Card Type: Third Party Wireless Card." for any vendor string except "Apple." ![]() In my opinion Apple already tacitly supports this, by making the headers available, without which it would've been impossible to even get the thing to compile. So it's a step forward in bringing near-native 3rd party wireless devices to OS X. All commercial manufacturers make OS X drivers which appear as wired ethernet driver to the OS, and provide their own wireless configuration GUI (which in my experience with Ralink, seldom works). Apple has not documented this beyond making the header files available. ![]() ![]() ![]() The most interesting part was figuring out how to hook the hardware into the operating system's wireless mechanism and make it compatible with the "Airport" user interface. The card in question was not that important (HALs for other cards can be written).
